WAKAF ILMU – PROGRAM CREATIVITY IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
IPOH – The continuous commitment of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) in carrying out activities under Wakaf Perak Al Ridzuan (WAPAR) reflects MAIPk’s determination to promote the culture of waqf in the state of Perak.
On 21 and 22 August 2017, a total of 60 Form One Mathematics teachers from schools in the Kinta District participated in the “Creativity in Mathematics Education” course organized under the Wakaf Ilmu Mumtaz Program, Wakaf Perak Al Ridzuan (WAPAR) at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Ipoh.
For this program, MAIPk collaborated with the Kinta Utara District Education Office and the Education Division of JAIPk. The program was conducted by the renowned Mathematics expert, Ms. Teoh Poh Yew from Creative Wizard Sdn. Bhd. This was the first MUMTAZ program involving the participation of educators.
The “Creativity in Mathematics Education” course aimed to expose teachers to more effective teaching methods in Mathematics to spark students’ interest in the subject, in line with the 21st-century education framework, where teachers are entrusted to nurture and teach students Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as well as creative and critical thinking.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Puan Hajah Wan Maizura binti Hj Wan Zahari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Development), MAIPk. Also present were Tuan Haji Abdul Aziz bin Mat Jais, Assistant District Education Officer, Ustaz Ahmad Munawir bin Sallehuddin, Education Service Officer of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), and MAIPk officers
