Batu Kurau, 23 March 2017 (Thursday) – The General Manager of the MAIPk Mall and Wakaf Management and Development Division, Suhaimi bin Yusoff, officiated the Closing Ceremony of the Quran Reading and Writing Programme (BTQ) for New Muslim Converts in Perak, conducted using the Abahata Al-Jabari method at the Mawaddah Motivation Centre, Batu Kurau. The programme, held for four days and three nights from 20 to 23 March 2017, was attended by 40 students and adults from the asnaf muallaf group from Taiping, Parit Buntar, Bagan Serai, Ipoh, and Manjung. This is the third programme successfully implemented under the Wakaf Perak Al Ridzuan – Quran Knowledge Development and Expansion Wakaf Project since its launch on 7 April 2016.
This pioneer programme was made successful through the cooperation between the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), the Institute of Quran Studies (IPAQ), and the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPK). The programme was filled with interesting and structured content through an easy, fast, efficient, and user-friendly Quran learning method tailored for new Muslim converts, to assist them in reading the Quran correctly.
Some participants initially did not recognize any Quranic letters at all. However, after attending 30 hours of ABAHATA classes using an effective learning technique guided by experienced Quran teachers, they were able to recognize the letters and begin reading the Quran. The achievements shown by the participants are hoped to become a stepping stone for them to continue striving more diligently in learning Quranic knowledge.
The Quran Knowledge Development and Expansion Wakaf is an initiative by MAIPk to widely disseminate Quranic knowledge within the ummah through learning, study, understanding, appreciation, and application of the Quran, regardless of age or socio-economic status. MAIPk calls upon the Muslim community to contribute to this wakaf fund for continuous and lasting benefit.
