IPOH, 4 MAY 2016 – The President of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), YABhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Wan Mohd Zahid bin Mohd Noordin, officiated the Waqf Van Handover Ceremony to the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Orang Asli, Kampung Kenang, Sungai Siput, held at the Darul Ridzuan Islamic Complex, Ipoh.
The van was a contribution from the Wakaf Perak Al Ridzuan (WAPAR) fund under MAIPk, which was launched by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan on 7 April 2016.
Sekolah Agama Rakyat Orang Asli, Kampung Kenang, established in 1994, is the only religious school specifically for the Orang Asli community and is fully funded by MAIPk. The school is administered by the Dakwah Division of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), while the teachers are appointed by MAIPk.
Each year, MAIPk allocates nearly RM1 million to cover the school’s operational and educational expenses. In 2016, construction works began on a three-storey building block, a surau (prayer hall), and several other facilities, with a total project cost exceeding RM4 million.
