IPOH, 07 April 2016: The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) organized the Launch Ceremony of Waqaf Perak Ar-Ridzuan at the Banquet Hall, Perak Darul Ridzuan Building. The ceremony, organized by MAIPk, was officiated by His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan.
The ceremony was also attended by the Perak Chief Minister, members of the Perak State Executive Council, Perak State Assembly members, heads of federal and state departments, as well as government and private agencies.
The launch of Waqaf Perak Ar-Ridzuan (WAPAR) represents the branding of a more holistic wakaf administration system in line with the Wakaf (Perak) Enactment 2015, which came into effect on 15 February 2016. Through this Enactment, wakaf administration in Perak, governed by MAIPk, now has clearer and more comprehensive authority in managing wakaf funds. As a result, various methods and wakaf instruments can now be implemented by MAIPk according to the relevant laws.
During the morning launch event, a total of RM10.8 million was contributed by waqif (donors). This includes contributions from all members of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council amounting to RM33,500.00. The State Government also provided strong support through wakaf contributions from state government corporations, namely the Perak Chief Minister’s Corporation, State Secretary Corporation of Perak, Perak State Development Corporation, Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation, and Perak Water Board, totaling RM500,000.00 (RM100,000.00 from each corporation).
Corporate waqif were also generous, including Maybank Islamic, which contributed RM5 million directly to the Student Hostel Development Fund at Sultan Azlan Shah University College, Kuala Kangsar. In addition, Maybank Islamic agreed to contribute another RM5 million as a matching grant, where for every ringgit donated by waqif through the Maybank2U channel, Maybank would contribute an equal amount to Waqaf Perak Ar-Ridzuan.
Other contributors included UDA Holdings (RM20,000.00), Cooperative of Felcra Seberang Perak Project Participants (RM19,315.00), and individual donors contributing RM300,000.00 at the Launch Ceremony of Waqaf Perak Ar-Ridzuan Fund.
